A barber told me about a hat factory

This is not really a post. It’s a test. I am still waiting for these people to let me into the factory so I can write a real post. 😉 Pictures borrowed from the Sofac site.

Soon after I moved here, I went into a manscaping salon near my place to ask the barber if he would cut my hair (a 100% clipper cut). He said no because he’d created his salon to be a place where men could be entre eux (just the guys). As a consolation prize, he told me about a hat factory…

Upon further research, I learned that this hat-making company has been in Bernay since 1846. In 1974, it was about to be shut down, but Alain Le Carpentier promptly quit his job, bought the company (shares with employees?), and rehired almost all of the existing workers. That was when the Société de fabrication d’articles coiffants (Sofac) was born. That basically translates to Company for the manufacture of headgear items. #iheartfrench.

Sofac’s first order was a French Air Force uniform cap. You francophiles will certainly recognize the iconic kepi, which Sofac makes for numerous French government organizations. They don’t only do military uniforms, though. They make the stylish pillbox hats worn by the flight attendants of some Gulf airlines, hats for haute couture designers, reproductions for movies, and more.
